Emergency Excess Medical Plans for Canadians Travelling out of Province
USA and Worldwide
To be eligible for coverage a person must:
- be at least 15 days old and
- be insured for benefits under a Canadian government health insurance plan during the entire period of coverage and
- be currently in good health and know of no reason to see medical consultation during the period of coverage and
- not reside in a nursing home, convalescent home, or rehabilitation centre; and
- not require assistance with daily living activities

Minimum premium per policy of $16.00.
Available only to Canadian residents covered by a provincial or territorial government health insurance plan.
The family rate applies to a maximum of 5 persons and includes the applicant and spouse under age 61 and dependent children under age 22 all living in the same residence.
Allows 5 days transit through the U.S.A.
Applicants over 60 years travelling over 60 days must complete a medical questionnaire.
