TRAVEL UNDERWRITERS
VISITORS TO CANADA – OUTLINE OF COVERAGE
Covers emergency treatment, sickness or injury whether in patient or out patient.
This plan is for visitors to Canada, immigrants awaiting provincial health plans, and returning Canadians
waiting to get back on provincial health plans.
Sickness coverage begins 48 hours from the effective date of the policy.
(There is a 7-day waiting period for sickness coverage if you have been in Canada more than 60 days.)
Coverage
- provides physician and surgeon services
- provides care from registered nurse
- x-rays
- ambulance service
- three follow up visits (does not include ongoing treatment)
- provides health care professional services - maximum $500 per practitioner
- prescription drugs, maximum 30 day supply
- accidental dental, maximum $4,000 for the repair or replacement of whole or sound teeth
- emergency dental, maximum $500
- burial, $10,000 maximum, excluding casket
- cremation, maximum $4,000
- subsistence allowance benefit, maximum $1,000
- 24 hour accident coverage, $25,000 limit
- emergency air transportation
Exclusions
- pre-existing conditions
- non-emergency treatment, regular checkups, ongoing care and investigative consultation
